Hey everyone! I'm looking to switch from Windows 11 to Linux after this semester wraps up. I've never used Linux before, so it's a bit intimidating. I need a distro that will support gaming, programming (including game development), 3D modeling, digital drawing, and streaming. I'm aware there are many different Linux versions out there, and I'm looking for recommendations on which one would best meet my needs. Also, I want to ensure compatibility with applications I currently use, like Discord, OBS, Blender, Steam, and Unreal Engine 5. Thanks in advance for your help!

For your specific needs, I highly recommend trying out Pop!_OS. It’s tailored for gaming and has great compatibility especially if you use an NVIDIA card, as it provides drivers out of the box. Plus, most software you mentioned like OBS and Blender runs smoothly on it. Just make sure to enable Steam Play for gaming—should work like a charm!
Most popular Linux distros will do just fine for your needs! The main point is to choose one that’s well-maintained and has good documentation. Generally, you can’t go wrong regardless of the one you pick. If you're into something like Fedora, it might be worth a try since it leans towards having cutting-edge features, although it can require a bit more hands-on learning.
You might want to check if your school's IT department supports Linux, especially if you need to use school-specific software for logging in or testing. Just a heads up that some institutions have Microsoft-centric systems which may have compatibility issues.

Absolutely! Fedora has great support and is quite stable, plus it’s becoming increasingly user-friendly. It sounds like a solid fit!
