Best Tape for Securing an M.2 SSD Without a Standoff?

Hey everyone! I just got a new M.2 SSD, but unfortunately, the standoff needed to secure it is broken. The drive works fine without it, but I want to tape it down as a long-term fix since replacing the broken standoff seems like a hassle. I've heard that Vinyl tape could work, but I'm not entirely sure. What do you think? Are there better options? I want to avoid any issues with the tape failing or leaving a sticky residue over time, especially with heat considerations. I've also seen suggestions for Kapton tape—would that be a good choice instead?

Taping it down should be fine if you use the right tape! Anything strong enough to hold it securely should work. I'd suggest looking for something with good heat resistance since M.2 drives can get pretty warm.

Just to confirm, you’re using an M.2 drive, right? That's the type that needs careful handling. Make sure any tape you use is rated for high heat—Kapton tape is a solid option for that!
