I've heard that Arctic MX-7 is the top choice right now. It really outperforms a lot of others. Plus, with the latest reviews, it seems to be the best option available for high-performance CPUs.
For application, I recommend using the pea method. It's simple and minimizes the chance of applying too much, which can cause air pockets. Just a small amount works great for spreading evenly!
