Budget Upgrade Suggestions for My 12-Year-Old Gaming PC

I've had my gaming PC since 2013, with a GPU upgrade in 2016. I'm looking for budget-friendly upgrade options under $600, preferably including used components. Ideally, I'd like to future-proof it for at least another five years and be able to play modern games on medium to high settings. I'm planning to reuse my case, PSU, and hard drives, including my 256GB SSD for Windows. My current setup includes an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard, an i5-3570K CPU, 16GB DDR3 RAM, and an EVGA GeForce 1070 GTX GPU. I'm open to suggestions, especially if you think I should upgrade my case too. Thanks for the advice!

I don’t think you’ll be able to do a full upgrade for just $600. You could potentially get an AM5 motherboard with a 7600X CPU and 16GB of RAM for about $400, leaving you with $200 to find a used GPU like a 3060. Just keep in mind, it won’t run the newest games on high settings, but it is a solid foundation for future upgrades.

I wouldn't risk reusing a 12-year-old power supply. If it fails, it could take other parts with it. Look for a high-quality PSU; I found the A650GLS is a great choice for the price. As for the rest, you might want to scoop a secondhand Ryzen 5000 chip for better performance—avoid the models with a ‘-G’ in their names. A used RTX 2070 Super would be a good upgrade from your 1070, but look for sales on a 3070 or 6700XT if you can fit them in your budget.
