I recently bought my first gamepad (an Xbox 8bitdo) and unfortunately, my laptop got infected with a Trojan while I was using it. The USB receiver for the gamepad was plugged into my laptop at that time and now that my laptop is being repaired, I'm worried if the Trojan somehow affected my gamepad. I know some USB devices can transmit malware, but I have no clue about gamepads. Am I overreacting?

You should be fine! Gamepads usually don't store data like other USB devices do, so they're not really at risk. It's pretty funny that you're more concerned about your gamepad than your laptop! By the way, what caused your laptop to get the Trojan?
In theory, yes, if the gamepad had any firmware that could be compromised. But honestly, that's super unlikely. You're not running a secret government project, right? There's no need to worry about your gamepad.
Nope, not a chance. Your gamepad is likely untouched by the Trojan. You should focus more on getting your laptop fixed!
You're 99.999% safe! Gamepads typically lack any storage capabilities, and even if they do have some features, they'll need specific software to change settings. Unless you're dealing with something really elaborate, your gamepad should be totally okay.
