Can an Abuser Track Someone After They Change Their Phone Plan and Number?

I'm concerned about a friend who has been dealing with an abusive partner. They've recently switched to a new phone plan under their name and got a new number since the partner was paying for the previous phone. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm wondering if there are ways for the abuser to still monitor her calls or track her data with the new setup. What should she be aware of?

Make sure to double-check things like Apple AirTags, and services like 'Find My Friends' or any location-sharing options in apps like Snapchat. It would also be wise to reset her Google and Apple passwords just to rule out any remote access to her accounts.

It's unlikely that he can track her calls or data just because she changed her number and plan, especially if she's using an Apple device. However, you should definitely check for any stalkerware that could have been installed on her phone if he had physical access to it. Also, other connected devices like smartwatches or tablets should be reviewed for any tracking apps. It's a small possibility, but it's better to be safe than sorry!
