I received an email this morning stating that my AWS account has been permanently closed. This is a personal account that I haven't used in a while, and I think I set it up years ago. My business account is separate and still active. I haven't received any communications from AWS since 2022, so I'm wondering if the closure could be due to lack of activity.

If you lost access to EC2, you can just change your root password and open a support ticket to get help.
Nope, AWS won’t shut your account down simply for lack of use. There might be other reasons like billing issues.
It’s likely that your account was shut down because there was something running on it, and then it failed to bill after your credit card expired or changed. AWS doesn’t typically close accounts just because they’re inactive.
I’m sorry to hear about your account issue! You might want to fill out the contact form on AWS to get in touch with their Support team for help: go.aws/account-support.
I think a similar thing happened to me too, but I wasn’t using my account much either.

I did try that, but they said I need to log in to get help, but I can’t log in since my account is closed.
