I'm thinking about making a career switch to data analysis, but I have no background in tech. From September, I'm planning to dedicate about 4 hours each weekday to study tools like Excel, SQL, and Tableau. I'm planning to use Knowely and other online resources to learn. Do you think it's realistic to expect that I can reach a level of competency where I can take on projects or even get a job in data analysis (or freelance gigs) within a year? I'd really appreciate any insights or advice on this!

Starting with Excel, SQL, and Tableau is definitely a solid choice! These are essential tools for most data analyst roles. As you get comfortable with them, don't forget to pick up some basic statistics, which you're already starting with through that Coursera math course. Eventually, if you're up for it, consider learning a bit of Python or R as you expand your skill set. The key will be to work on projects—whether that’s analyzing public datasets or perhaps visualizing data for a small business. Having tangible projects to showcase will really help in finding jobs or gigs. It's totally possible to land a position within a year, especially if you demonstrate your ongoing learning and practical skills!
This is very encouraging. Thank you!
