I've been experiencing declining ping and poor connectivity on my Xbox, and I'm considering getting a standalone router to connect just for gaming to improve my latency. Can I use an Ethernet cable to connect my Xbox directly to either a modem or a router, and would that help with getting better ping and overall connectivity?

If you already have Wi-Fi, you likely have a modem at home. Connecting directly to a second modem just for your Xbox isn't a good idea since any data still has to travel through your main modem linked to your ISP. It's more beneficial to investigate what's causing your ping issues or consider a powerline adapter to improve the connection to your Xbox using an Ethernet cable.
So a powerline adapter is basically the best option if my current setup keeps lagging?
