I'm in a bit of a bind here. I bought a portable DVD player to watch old CDs and DVDs, especially a particular CD from 2010 that has a slideshow of my brother's pictures. We played this during his funeral, so it's very dear to me. Unfortunately, my old desktop, where I had saved the video, isn't working anymore, and my new computer doesn't have a CD/DVD player. While trying to save the video on my new desktop, the player stopped responding, and now it seems like the CD is formatted and doesn't show any videos. Is there any way to recover this video? Please help, it's really important to me to keep this memory alive.

Keep in mind that writable discs don’t have an eternal lifespan and may only last about five years depending on how they’ve been stored. If you're looking to recover the contents of the disc, you'll need specialized software that can read sectors without relying on the metadata that standard players use. It's possible that the data is still there, but it may not be easily accessible through normal methods.
