Can I Use a PCIe 5.0 GPU in a PCIe 3.0 Slot?

I'm upgrading my GPU and considering the RTX 5060 TI with 16GB GDDR7. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU, a Gigabyte B450M Gaming motherboard, 32GB of RAM, and I'm currently using a Gigabyte RX 580 with 8GB. I'm concerned about compatibility and performance—specifically, will the RTX 5060 TI work in my motherboard's PCIe 3.0 slot, and if so, how will it affect performance?

Using the 16GB version of the 5060 TI at PCIe 5.0 even at x8 lanes should be fine for most gaming scenarios. But, be careful with the PCIe 5.0 at x8—it could lead to performance issues. Just game on, you should be good!

I get what you're saying, but your explanation on lanes and VRAM got a little confusing for me!

Yes, it will work, but you might see some performance reduction since the RTX 5060 TI utilizes x8 lanes. It really depends on what you're planning to use it for, though!

Just check out this review I found: www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-5060-ti-pci-express-x8-scaling/—the performance hit is pretty minimal!

I'm mainly into FPS and RPG games, so should I be worried about that?

Funny enough, HW Unboxed just released a video about this very topic! Might want to give it a watch to get some insights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEsSUPuvHI4.
