My brother owns an iPhone 15 Pro, and he's been having some charging port issues along with problems recognizing his left AirPod across three different sets of AirPods — including two brand new 4th generation ones and an older 2nd generation pair that used to work fine.
He's been to Apple for the charging port issue twice, where they cleaned it out, but it's just a temporary fix as it keeps acting up again. Since we have AppleCare+, we're considering filing a claim to get it replaced, but does it have to show physical damage for that to happen?

Keeping the port clean could definitely help, but it sounds like the problem is deeper than that. It just doesn't sound like the phone is functioning properly — which is a bummer! If your brother’s AirPods are acting up too and he’s tried everything, I’d definitely suggest he file a claim and see what happens. By the way, are the AirPods working fine with other Apple devices?
It sounds like they might view this as user error if they just keep cleaning the port. If that's the case, getting a replacement could be tricky since they usually look for physical damage or water damage to approve claims. If the issue is persistent, it might be worth pushing for a replacement anyway, especially since it’s affecting functionality.
Totally! You could explain the situation and insist that the phone is fundamentally not working right. If Apple’s already failed to fix the problem after cleaning, they might make an exception.

Yeah, it would be good to know that! If they connect with other devices without issues, it points more to the iPhone than the AirPods themselves.
