Can I Use Azure’s Free Trial Without Getting Charged Immediately?

I recently set out to create an Azure tenant using their 30-day free trial. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to create a virtual machine, and then I got hit with a message saying it would be $150 a month, even though I'm on the 'Free Trial'. From what I've gathered, the tenant itself might be free, but it seems like as soon as I start adding any pay-as-you-go resources, I'm looking at immediate charges. Is that really how it works? Am I overlooking something that would allow me to use resources without incurring costs right away?

Not all Azure resources are covered by the credits available in the free trial. Are you trying to create a standard VM, or is it a third-party image that might require extra payments?

I was creating a standard VM using Windows Server 2022 Datacenter with a hotfix. It displayed $150 per month without any indication that it was part of the free trial or that I had a $200 credit. Are you saying I can still create the VM, and even though it asks for my credit card and seems like I need to pay, I won't actually be charged?
