Can I Use Different RAM Slots If One Isn’t Working?

Hey guys! I've got a motherboard with 4 RAM slots: A1, A2, B1, and B2. The setup that's usually recommended uses A2 and B2, but I've run into issues with B2. I'm wondering if I can switch my RAM to A1 and B1 instead? Or is there no hope left for my setup?

You can totally just move your RAM to A1 and B1! Your motherboard will likely recognize them just fine and you can still maintain dual channel support. Just steer clear of putting A1 and A2 together.

Is there a way I can see if I'm still getting dual channel support?

Even if you did use A1 and A2, it wouldn't be the worst thing ever—it would just run a bit slower.

You might just need to get a new motherboard, unfortunately.

Was really hoping it wouldn’t come to that. Thank you for your quick response!

Yeah, just go with A1 and B1 like other folks said! There’s a nice video that explains how to check if your RAM is still in dual channel mode. It’s totally doable and I’ve dealt with faulty slots before. Here's the link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NkLb3UNYrX4
