Can I Use My Power Supply to Power a SATA III SSD?

I just got a used PC that has an Apevia power supply, and I'm planning to install a SATA III SSD. The thing is, I'm not sure how to power it since I noticed that the power supply only has 6-pin connectors. I thought SATA SSDs need a 15-pin SATA power connector. Am I missing something? Is there any way to connect this SSD with the current setup, maybe using some type of converter?

You should definitely check if your power supply has SATA power cables included. SATA connections have been around for a long time, so it’s likely your PSU has the right cables. Just look for a cable that splits and has a flat connector, which is the 15-pin you need.

Yes, it actually has SATA power connectors, so you should be able to power your SSD without any issues. Double-check to see if the power supply has the necessary cables—sometimes they come bundled.

From the Amazon images, it seems like your PSU includes at least one SATA power cable that can power your SSD. If you can't find a label, look for flat connectors among the cables; those are usually for SATA drives.
