Choosing Between Seagate and WD for a 5TB External Hard Drive: Is It Worth It?

I'm a music producer in need of more storage for my audio files and plugins. My laptop has a 1TB SSD, but I'm running out of space. I found a 5TB external hard drive from Seagate priced at 12,000 INR (about 140 USD) but also saw 5TB options from WD that are priced closer to 300 USD. I'm curious why the Seagate drive is so much cheaper and which brand I should go for. Any advice?

Seagate is a reputable brand and offers good value, especially considering their current pricing. While I've seen some concerns about WD in recent years with their SMR drive issue, most people still trust Seagate drives for reliability. Personally, I think the price for the Seagate drive looks really good!

Exactly! I’ve switched to all Seagate drives like IronWolf and Exos, and they’ve been solid.

WD is also known for quality, especially for servers and NAS setups. Just keep in mind that WD offers different models for different uses (like Red for NAS). It’s good to match the drive to your intended use, which can affect pricing.

I'm going for a desktop storage model. Quick question—would my WD My Book 8TB work with a Lenovo laptop?
