Choosing the Right Web Platform for My Entertainment Business

I'm starting a small international entertainment business and need a more complex website than my simple one-page site hosted on GitHub. I want something visually appealing with multiple pages to showcase my services. I initially considered Webflow but found it complicated and was put off by the limited pages available on the free plan. Now, I'm using Framer and enjoying the learning process, but my wife suggests I might be better off with WordPress given its lower cost. I'm not a web designer but I have some graphic design experience and took a web development class 10-15 years ago. I want to know if Framer is a good option for my needs or if I should consider switching to WordPress, and what I should be aware of as I invest more time into learning Framer. My website will consist of a home page, about page, portfolio, services, and contact page, and I aim to have a stylish and professional look. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, with your background, I'd suggest going for a static site with HTML and Tailwind CSS. It might seem intimidating at first, but you'll save money on subscriptions and just upload your files to a cheaper hosting service. Plus, you can ask ChatGPT to help you design layouts when needed! It'll keep your creative freedom and avoid ongoing costs.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm open to trying Tailwind CSS, especially if it gives me more control over the design.

It's pretty standard to face some costs in this area. Ten hours of learning is just the beginning! If you're happy with Framer, stay the path. But just a heads up: the free plans have limitations. Eventually, you might hit a paywall if you need certain custom features. WordPress has its own quirks; if you go that route, be clear on whether you want WordPress.com (more limited) or WordPress.org (more control but more complex). Plan ahead!

You might not need a full CMS for your site, and a good static website can save you a ton of money in the long run. If you're comfortable with Framer, stick with it! WordPress can be great, but it sometimes turns into a hassle with all those plugins you have to pay for. Just find a nice template that resonates with your vibe and go for it. Spending a bit now can pay off later!
