I'm looking to upgrade my RAM since I've got some extra cash from Christmas and two vacant slots on my motherboard. Recently, I've been facing lag and stuttering while playing multiplayer games with a YouTube tab open on another monitor, especially when I alt-tab between them. My current specs are:
- 1 TB SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (12 GB)
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor (3.60 GHz)
- RAM: CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 (2 x 8GB @ 3200 MHz)
- Motherboard: B450 TOMAHAWK MAX II (MS-7C02)
- EVGA Supernova 650 GA Power Supply
Do you think my issue is due to insufficient RAM, or could it be something else? I found two 8GB sticks of my RAM for about $114. Is that a good price considering the current market? Also, can I upgrade my RAM without needing to replace my power supply?

When adding RAM, having two sticks instead of four can sometimes help with stability and performance, so you’re on the right track there. The price you found is decent for RAM these days. Just make sure your SSD is set up correctly—fixed size page files can be more reliable than managed ones. So keep an eye on how much RAM your games are using!
First off, you might want to check your memory usage while gaming! Use something like MSI Afterburner to see what's really going on. Sometimes it’s actually the CPU that’s the bottleneck, so upgrading that could help too. Overall, a RAM upgrade is definitely a good step, just make sure you're monitoring your usage first!
