Considering a Switch to Linux: Need Help Choosing the Right Distro

I'm thinking about making the switch to Linux but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed when it comes to choosing the right distribution. I've dabbled with Linux before and have tried various distros, but I haven't found one that I can stick with. My plan is to go with Bazzite since I want to game on it, and I know that nearly all my apps and games are compatible. Right now, I'm dual-booting with Windows, and I feel like I'm ready to commit to Linux. However, I'm worried I might be making the wrong choice with my distro selection. I know switching to Linux is generally a good move, but I could really use some advice to help finalize my decision. If you have any questions that might help, please ask!

While Bazzite is super gaming-focused, it might be a little too intense if you want to do other things as well. Consider CachyOS, which is gaming-optimized but with a bit more versatility. If you have newer hardware, Tumbleweed could work well too, but if your hardware is older, a stable release might make more sense. Also, Fedora with the RPM Fusion repo is solid for gaming, and you might find that works well too.

Don't stress too much about getting it perfect on the first try! Most of the so-called "gaming distros" are just tweaked versions of larger distros with gaming applications and easy Nvidia driver installations. If your hardware is fairly new, rolling release distros could be great; just dive in and try one out to see how it goes!

Bazzite should suit your needs for gaming, but just a heads up, I've seen some issues with it in dual boot setups, especially if you have an Nvidia graphics card—I've had that problem myself. If you're looking for alternatives, I recommend checking out base Fedora or Mint; just be sure to follow the post-install guide if you go with Fedora.
