Hey everyone! I need some help figuring out a potential static or electrical issue with my PC setup. Ever since I moved about a year ago, I've noticed some strange problems:
1. I've got a Shure SM58 microphone connected to an Elgato WaveXLR, and people occasionally mention a faint buzzing sound. It's not a huge deal, but I suspect it might be related.
2. My IEMS (Xenns Mangird Tea Pro) that came with an Apple dongle completely died after six months of use. I tried swapping the cables, but it didn't help. They were out of warranty, so I just chalked it up to bad luck.
3. To be on the safe side, I bought a pair of Fiio FT1 closed-back headphones and switched to using them with an Atom DAC and amp instead of plugging directly into the PC. However, just this week, these also stopped working after only two months!
I'm starting to worry that my PC might be damaging my headphones, and I'd really prefer it doesn't mess up my monitors or other gear. For context, my PC is on a carpet, and I'm using a Herman Miller Embody chair with a plastic frame.
Does this sound like a static or electrical problem? Where should I start troubleshooting? Should I look into grounding, specific power strips, floor mats, or something else?

It sounds like you might have an electrical issue. You could have a stray current in your power supply somewhere. Make sure you're using a surge protector to help with any static buildup. It’s possible that’s causing the buzzing in your mic and damaging your headphones.
Are you saying a surge protector would help with static electricity?
