Dealing with Audio Delay Between My PC and TV Setup

I have a home theater setup that includes a Yamaha RX-V4A receiver connected to my LG TV (model 50NANO796PC) via HDMI eARC. I also have a Fire TV Cube 4K connected to the receiver. This setup has worked great until I tried gaming from my PC, which has an RTX 3070. I initially connected the PC to the AV receiver, but that caused a significant video delay. I switched to connecting the PC directly to the TV using a 5 m Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, but I still faced bad video delays, even with the default 4K/60Hz setting. I found that switching to Full HD/120Hz or enabling the Game Optimiser on the TV dramatically reduces the video delay but unfortunately disables HDR, which affects picture quality.

The main problem I'm left with now is a noticeable audio delay when gaming, even when I try using the TV's built-in speakers, which suggests the issue might be with the PC-to-TV connection or the TV's audio processing. Interestingly, when I set audio output directly to my PC speakers, there's no audio delay, although I do still notice some video delay on the TV—smaller than the audio delay. I've been finding some success in setting the configuration where PC connects to the Yamaha, which then connects to the TV via eARC. This has lessened my video delay significantly but still leaves me with some audio delay, which is especially annoying in fast-paced gaming scenarios where prompt audio feedback is crucial.

It sounds like you've got your connections right—PC to TV, then eARC to the Yamaha. Have you tried adjusting the lip sync settings on the Yamaha to help with the audio delay? Sometimes these settings can really help!

Yeah, I tried adjusting the Audio Sync settings on both the TV and the Yamaha, but it only made the audio delay worse.

Most TVs have a setting that reduces internal processing, like a gaming mode, which can help cut down on latency. It’s worth checking if yours has such a feature. Also, it might be more efficient to run the audio directly from the PC to your speakers instead of sending it through the TV first. If that's not an option, considering an external sound module could be beneficial in the long run.

Thanks for the tip! I think the only mode I have that helps latency is the Game Optimizer, which I'm using. I’ll definitely explore the idea of connecting audio directly from the PC to the Yamaha instead of through the TV.
