Did I make a mistake with my GPU and overclocking setup?

I recently invested in a PNY OC 5070Ti GPU along with 32GB of Crucial Pro Overclocking DDR5 RAM (2x16GB at 6000MHz). After purchasing, I came across some advice suggesting that overclocking leads to increased heat, instability, and can even reduce the lifespan of the components, along with drawing more power. Since I'm not a gamer and built this PC primarily for productivity tasks like editing and coding, I'm questioning if I made a mistake with my choices. Is overclocking really necessary for my purposes? What do you all think?

No, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Think of it like driving your car—you can go 80 mph on the freeway, but that extra wear isn’t going to be hugely noticeable compared to the performance gain you'd get over time. I had my 8700k heavily overclocked for years and it ran great! Also, if you're not gaming, I'm curious why you went with the 5070Ti—there might have been more cost-effective options for general use.

Exactly! Just looking for stability here, can this overclocking still keep my setup reliable?

There’s genuine overclocking and then there’s just marketing fluff. Most products won’t actually push the limits to the point of risk. Your setup is likely fine and performing slightly faster while still being well within lifespan limits.

Have you checked out Nvidia's auto-tune feature? It's pretty decent and won't void your warranty. It sets the speeds for you without requiring any experience, which might be perfect if you're just getting started with this whole overclocking thing.

I'm a total noob—how much hassle is this overclocking? Is it easy to do?
