Hey everyone! I'm currently pursuing a BBA, but to be honest, it's more due to family expectations rather than passion. My true interest lies in tech and coding, and I'm also learning to become a self-taught developer alongside my studies. I'm aiming to secure an internship or job in a medium-sized company and eventually hope to work for a large tech giant like Google or Microsoft. So, I'm wondering, is having a Computer Science degree necessary to land a job in this field?

While anything is possible, it's definitely a tough road. I don't have a degree myself, but I managed to secure an internship at a startup which helped me gain practical experience. Now I’m working at a larger tech company. It's not the usual path and likely has lower success rates, but balancing self-learning and a degree would give you a significant advantage over others.
In today’s job market, having a degree in Computer Science is pretty much essential if you want to land a position as a software engineer. Most internships are reserved for students actively enrolled in a CS program, and getting hired without one is quite challenging, especially if you're targeting big companies like Google or Microsoft. They're looking for candidates who follow the traditional paths.
