Do I Need a New Windows License After Upgrading My Motherboard?

I'm getting ready to upgrade my setup from an Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor to an Asus B760M-AYW WIFI D4 II Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard. Currently, I have an OEM version of Windows and I'm not totally sure if I need to buy a new license for the new system. What's the best way to handle this? Do I really have to purchase a new Windows license? If so, how do I go about buying it and then installing it on my new motherboard? Thanks for any help!

Your CPU isn't LGA 1700. Are you planning to get a new CPU as well?

Hey! Before you upgrade, make sure to link your Microsoft account to your current Windows. This way, after you replace your CPU and motherboard, you can do a fresh install of Windows. When you log in with your Microsoft account on the new setup, your Windows license should activate without you needing to pay again! Just a heads up, if your current version of Windows is OEM, it might be tied to your current motherboard since it came prebuilt. But give this a shot and it might just work!

But if it's OEM, isn’t it tied to my motherboard? My PC was prebuilt.
