Do I Need the Full Figma License for Mockups?

I'm a new web developer trying out Figma to create mockups before jumping into the coding phase. Right now, I just want to know if the collab seat is enough for my needs, or if I should invest in the full seat. I'm particularly interested in the unlimited file feature, but I'm unclear if the collab seat covers that. I checked their pricing page, but it mainly highlighted compatibility with different design systems. Just to clarify, I'm working solo on this full-stack project.

As a web developer, you might not necessarily need a full design system. If designing isn't your main focus, you can sketch your ideas on paper or use tools like Excalidraw or Notion before finalizing your layout. It could be smarter to look at existing websites that inspire you and do some reverse engineering. Just pick styles you like and adapt them as you go!

That makes sense, but having multiple designs ready can help showcase options to clients quickly. It speeds up the process before getting into the CSS.

Why do we get so many design-related questions? Seems like everyone's stepping into design now!

When I first used the free tier, I mostly faced limits on the number of projects rather than on the design tools themselves. You might want to try the free version and see if it meets your needs. But hey, isn't a collab seat mainly for team projects? If you're working solo, maybe you should look into something else.

I agree! The free tools are often all you need; it’s the project limit that can be a hassle.

Yeah, the collab seat seems more for teamwork, so that might not be ideal for solo work.
