Experiencing Lag in Elden Ring on My New Gaming PC—Help!

I recently upgraded to a new gaming PC (an Alienware Aurora with an nVidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 16GB of RAM) after using a Lenovo gaming laptop. I've been looking forward to playing Elden Ring with improved performance, but instead, I'm facing significant lag and hitching that's frustrating to deal with. I've tried various troubleshooting steps, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. The game ran smoothly on my laptop, so I expected a better experience on this new setup. I'm also using an LG 5k2k OLED monitor. Is there something specific I might have missed in the settings or adjustments I can make to eliminate this lag? I'm really considering returning the PC if I can't fix this.

First off, make sure your display cable is connected to the GPU rather than the motherboard—that's a common mistake. If it's properly connected, consider checking your in-game settings. High graphic settings can sometimes cause performance drops, especially if you're trying to run 5K resolution. Lowering the resolution or tweaking the graphics settings could help stabilize your frame rate. You should also ensure your GPU drivers are up to date, as outdated drivers can create lag issues too.

Good point! I had a similar issue that was fixed by just updating my drivers.

Yeah, and don't forget to check background processes that might be running; they can drain valuable resources!
