Hey everyone, I started my first job as a junior developer about two months ago, and I could really use some perspective. Lately, I've been hearing a lot of senior developers talk about how AI is going to change the landscape for developers, and to be honest, it's making me feel pretty anxious. While I'm trying hard not to rely too much on AI, I often feel overwhelmed at work. I'm starting to get assigned my own tickets, but when I see a task involving a programming language I don't know or a massive codebase, I just freeze. Sometimes, I need a bit of guidance from my mentor to even understand where to start. I usually limit my time trying to solve the problem on my own, but when I do turn to AI for help, it often gives me a solution that makes perfect sense, even if I wouldn't have come up with it on my own. After I implement it, my mentor might give it a quick glance and say, 'Looks good, go ahead and merge it.' But I can't shake the feeling that I'm not really deserving of being here, especially since I want to grow as a developer. Is this normal for someone just starting out? Any tips for someone feeling this way?

It's totally normal to feel overwhelmed at first! When you get stuck, try asking the AI how it reached a solution. Figuring out its thought process can help you learn and become less dependent on it over time.
Trust me, two months in, you're still getting used to everything. Don't forget, the real value in using AI is improving your efficiency. Just make sure you're learning and understanding the solutions it provides.
Don’t stress too much! Imposter syndrome hits everyone, especially when starting out. Just focus on learning and improving bit by bit. You will find your footing soon and become more confident in your abilities!
100% agree! The first year can be tough, but you'll look back and be amazed at how much you've grown.
It's all about collaboration. Use AI to speed up your tasks, but always keep your critical thinking in check. Make sure you understand not just what to do but why. You'll get the hang of it!
Exactly! It's like using any other tool—just make sure you're in charge and aware of what you're doing.
You’re not alone! I've had similar feelings. I used AI a lot during my internship and felt guilty for it, but I learned to document my process and understood that it's part of the evolving tech landscape. Trust the process and keep pushing forward!
That’s a great point! It's important to keep learning and improving your skills while also leveraging the tools available.

Definitely! Understanding the reasoning behind the AI's suggestions can help you build your own knowledge and skills.
