Hey everyone! I'm new to building PCs, and I could really use some advice. After doing a bit of research, I've picked out all the parts I think I need, but I'm not completely sure if they'll work well together. I'm mainly building this rig for gaming, specifically to play games like Total War: Warhammer 3 and Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 at 1080p on ultra settings, aiming for at least 60 FPS (120 FPS would be awesome!). I'd like this setup to last for a while without needing major upgrades. I'm also considering trying out Linux as my operating system, but I haven't made my final decision yet. Would switching to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D significantly impact my setup? I've read that it has a blocked multiplier, but I'm unsure how important that is. Thanks in advance for any help!

Your build looks solid, but honestly, you might be overshooting the requirements for 1080p gaming. I’d recommend looking at options like the 9700X or the 7800X3D. Also, consider upgrading to a better graphics card with at least 16GB of VRAM for longevity. And you probably don’t need a 1000W power supply; a solid 850W PSU should suffice.
About the VRAM: it can make a big difference, especially for textures and graphics settings. For your gaming style, as long as you hit that 60 FPS mark, you'll be good. If you're prioritizing graphics quality in games like Clair Obscure, going with the 7800X3D and an RTX 5700 should work well for 1440p, maybe even at 1080p with ultra settings!
Honestly, this build is more than enough for 1080p gaming. If you’re open to 1440p, you might want to invest in a better GPU with more VRAM—maybe even a 9070XT with 16GB. But if you play mostly single-player RTS games, the better CPU can be worth it. Your rig is going to be amazing either way!
The 7800X3D should definitely handle your graphics card well. You’re good to go! Can’t wait to see your setup once it’s built! Happy building!

Thanks for the encouragement! Really excited to get started.
