I've been really focused on AI lately—I've even developed my own model! However, it didn't go as planned and behaved strangely, which freaked me out during late-night tests. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about what Geoffrey Hinton, often called the godfather of AI, has said regarding his regrets about the rapid development of AI technology. He seems worried, and given how integrated AI is in our lives, should we be concerned too? What measures can we take to prepare for potential issues?

I think your model wasn’t laughing at you; probably just some weird audio stuff going on, especially at 3 AM. Hinton’s concerns are more about the big issues like power concentration and alignment rather than individual models acting oddly. We should focus on understanding those larger problems instead.

What about the 2027 AGI theory though? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about the rise of artificial general intelligence?
