Hey everyone! I'm curious if anyone here has experience with managing a small niche forum. Specifically, I'd love to know whether you built your forum from the ground up or if you used an open source solution. I'm considering adding a forum to a niche website I'm developing and would appreciate any insights!

I used to run a couple of forums, but that was ages ago when Phorum and phpBB were popular. If you're not looking to build a project from scratch, I recommend using existing open source solutions or even some paid SaaS options. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel nowadays!
I run a few niche communities focused on AI and web security, and they’re built on HN+. It’s been a solid choice for me!
I manage several niche forums, and all of them are running on Xenforo. It’s user-friendly and has great features for community engagement!
Thanks for the info! Why did you choose Xenforo over other open source options like Discourse?
Thanks for this comment. I’ll check out HN+. Would you mind sharing links to your forums? I'm not creating anything in that niche.
