I recently received a PC as a birthday gift from my friends, and they assured me it would run most games smoothly. However, I've been trying to play some 3D games like Overwatch, and they're running very slowly with noticeable stuttering. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm hoping to figure out whether there's an issue with the hardware they chose or if there's something I can fix myself. Here are the specs of my PC:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core Processor at 4.70 GHz
- Installed RAM: 32.0 GB (31.1 GB usable)
- Storage: 1.82 TB SSD Samsung SSD 990 EVO Plus 2TB
- Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB), AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (486 MB)
- System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you're using MSI Afterburner, it can cause some issues with AMD setups unless configured properly. It's worth checking out.
First things first, check if your monitor is directly connected to the GPU instead of the motherboard. That can hugely impact performance!
Your specs look solid overall. Just ensure your display is connected to the right port. Also, check the temps of your CPU and GPU; they should stay below 90C. Finally, check how much power they're drawing while gaming. Your GPU should be pulling around 100-130 watts.
Lastly, consider your monitor's resolution. The RX 6600 is great for 1080p gaming but might struggle with 1440p or 4K resolutions. Keep that in mind!
Just a quick note, make sure your GPU is in the top PCIe slot. Sometimes they end up in lower slots which can hurt performance.
Make sure to update your drivers. For your AMD components, you can use the Adrenaline software to get the latest drivers. This could really improve your performance, given that it's a new build.
That actually helped a lot, thanks a ton!

Yep, it’s connected to the GPU.
