Hello everyone! I'm hoping someone can help me with a frustrating issue I'm facing. I recently set up a desk with a USB switch that allows me to alternate between my mechanical keyboard and mouse for my personal desktop and my work MacBook. However, I've started experiencing a problem where letters are being double typed on my MacBook. This problem doesn't occur when I use my keyboard with my Windows desktop, so I think I can eliminate the USB switch as the culprit.
Here's what I've tried to fix it:
- I plugged the switch into a dedicated USB-C port on the Mac instead of using a USB hub.
- I installed Unshaky, which has helped reduce how often the double typing happens, but it still occurs. When it does happen, the letters double type quicker than what my Unshaky settings allow (I have it at 60ms for all keys; raising it too high messes with my typing speed).
- I turned off the repeated keys setting for a bit but turned it back on since it didn't solve the problem and it stopped me from effectively using backspace to delete multiple characters.
If anyone has any advice or insights on this, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm really at my wit's end with this! Thanks in advance!

Just a thought—make sure your keyboard’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, compatibility issues can cause weird glitches like double typing, especially on Macs. Also, check your keyboard settings in System Preferences; there might be something there causing it!
Have you tried plugging the keyboard directly into your MacBook without the switch? That’s a step many tend to miss when troubleshooting issues like these. If the double typing continues regardless, then it might be an issue specific to the Mac's handling of external keyboards.
I did test that, unfortunately, and the problem still persists.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check those settings and firmware next.
