I've run into a frustrating problem where my microphone isn't picking up any sound on my Windows 11 PC. I've tested it on various platforms, including Discord and Valorant, but it just isn't working. My microphone is plugged in and set as my default communications device, yet the audio input meter stays at 0% whenever I check settings or try other apps. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps like restarting my PC, running sfc /scannow and DISM, changing the default communications device settings, and even unplugging and replugging the mic, but nothing has worked. I'm looking for any suggestions or advice to get this fixed! Here are my system specs: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX 580, Model: Dell Inspiron 5676.

It sounds like your mic might be having some issues, but you can try a couple of things. First, since you mentioned it works on other devices, it might be related to drivers on your computer. Make sure to check for any updates for your audio drivers. You can do this by going into Device Manager, finding your audio device, and selecting 'Update Driver.' If that doesn't solve the problem, try reinstalling the driver altogether. Sometimes a fresh installation does the trick!
If it still doesn’t work after checking drivers, sometimes settings get a bit messed up after updates. Go to your sound settings and make sure your microphone is enabled and not muted. Also, check if your privacy settings are allowing apps to access the microphone. You can do this in the Privacy settings under Microphone. It’s a bit annoying but worth a shot!
Great tip! I’ll double-check the privacy settings to see if that might be the issue.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into updating and reinstalling the drivers to see if that fixes the problem.
