I've got a 4-month-old 5080 GPU that seems to be failing or something's definitely wrong with it. I recently upgraded from a 4070 Ti Super to the 5080, and everything worked fine for the first two months. Then the freezing started, happening daily and requiring a restart to fix. I also noticed a VGA error light coming on occasionally, which again needed a restart to fix.
I took it to a knowledgeable PC technician who thought we resolved the issue, but the freezing returned along with the VGA error light. Initially, I suspected the power supply, even though it was only a little over a year old and rated at 1000W, so I replaced it with another 1000W unit. This seemed to fix the problem for about two weeks, but then the VGA error light appeared again.
Now it's happening more frequently, and just a few days ago, the freezing started again. Out of frustration, I swapped my old GPU back in, performed a DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), and surprisingly, everything is running smoothly. I've done basic troubleshooting on the 5080, but nothing seems to work. I'm at my wit's end and planning to RMA it with Overclockers for inspection as I can't deal with it anymore. I might try running DDU on the GPU drivers one more time, but I'm not too optimistic. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

This may seem basic, but have you checked the power adapter for the GPU? Sometimes there are issues with burning or melting connectors, which could cause instability.
Have you tried any BIOS updates? It could help resolve underlying issues that might be causing the GPU problems.

I'm on the latest version for my motherboard.
