Help! My RX 6700 XT Drivers Keep Crashing After Gaming

I've been experiencing a frustrating issue with my PC where the GPU drivers crash after I close games. Most recently, it happened after playing a new Thomas-themed game. While browsing online afterwards, I notice that part of my screen turns black, the audio stops briefly, and then the screen turns off and back on again after about 30 seconds. This problem has been intermittent over the last few months, and although I've used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to perform clean installs of the drivers multiple times, it keeps happening. No other graphical issues or crashes have popped up so far. Here are my specs:

- CPU: Ryzen 3600
- GPU: RX 6700 XT
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4
- PSU: Corsair TX 850M

I hate to say it, but I've had my fair share of trouble with AMD drivers too. But honestly, I find that while they require some workarounds, they tend to perform well when set up right. Other people have different experiences, though; it’s kind of hit or miss depending on your setup.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from! I've had to juggle drivers extensively with AMD cards in the past. Meanwhile, Nvidia seems to have its own issues with driver updates breaking things on their end too. It's a mixed bag for sure!

Since you've already done several clean installs with DDU, it's likely not just a driver issue. First, check all your power supply connections to the GPU. Sometimes, if the GPU doesn't receive enough power, it can crash when transitioning from performance to idle states after a game.

Also, consider tweaking some settings in the Radeon Software. Set a manual clock limit; try around 500-800 MHz, or switch the power profile to "Balanced" instead of Default. Make sure XMP is enabled in your BIOS for the RAM's rated speed, and run Memtest86+ to check for stability. If nothing else works, an older driver version might help too.

That definitely sounds like a solid plan! After I switched to the balanced profile, I haven't had any crashes since. I'll keep an eye on temps, which were about 75°C under load but dropped to 40°C while browsing. If it happens again, I'll try adjusting the clock and enabling XMP.

Since DDU and driver changes haven't solved the issue, it's worth looking into other hardware. Have you checked your storage drive health? A failing drive can sometimes cause weird crashes. Also, consider testing your CPU and RAM stability as well. It's important to eliminate every potential cause since instability can arise from multiple sources.
