Help! My Web Browsers Keep Crashing on Linux

I'm having a tough time with my Dell Latitude 5510 since every web browser I try keeps crashing. Initially, everything seemed fine, but my wife started noticing crashes in Firefox. I switched to Chromium, but the problem persisted. I've also tried Waterfox, LibreWolf, and Brave, with similar results. The crashes seem random; they could occur after just a few seconds or as long as ten minutes. I originally had Linux Mint installed, which didn't cause issues on her desktop, but I decided to switch to Debian 13 as a test. The BIOS is updated, but I'm not sure if this is a software issue or something related to the hardware. Any tips on diagnosing this?

Sounds like bad memory could be your culprit. I mean, if this machine mostly runs browsers, memory issues could likely cause the crashes. It's worth checking!

Honestly, I think the issue might be rooted somewhere else. Have you looked into your system specs or any error messages? It sounds like you’ve changed browsers a lot without considering that the problem could lie beyond just the software. Browsers can be demanding on resources, so this could be a sign that your hardware isn't handling the load well. It's worth checking your system logs, too, to pinpoint any underlying issues.

You should try running Memtest86+. You can install it using `apt` in Debian, and it should show up in your GRUB menu. This will help check if there's a problem with your RAM. Also, consider using `stress-ng` to test your CPU stability; there's a tutorial online that can help you set it up.
