Help with Dual-Booting Win10 and Kubuntu: No Boot Menu

I've recently made the leap from Windows 10 to Kubuntu and decided to set up a dual-boot system. I shrank my Windows 10 partition to make space and turned off fast boot and secure boot. I knew I needed to keep both partitions in Legacy mode since Windows 10 was installed that way. The installation went smoothly, but upon restarting, there was no dual-boot menu. I ran *sudo update-grub*, which found the Windows installation but indicated it was adding an entry for UEFI, even though I'm sticking with Legacy. I'm still booting into Kubuntu without an option for Windows 10. I'm kinda stumped here and would love any advice on how to fix this. I really want to keep my Windows setup as a backup. Thanks for any help! PS: It's just my hobby laptop, so I can manage for a week if needed.

When you're booting from the installer USB, make sure to check your firmware boot menu. Sometimes, it will show two entries: one for UEFI and one for Legacy. If you're booting in Legacy mode, the installer will set everything up for Legacy, but if you accidentally boot in UEFI mode, it can mess up the installation, especially since Windows is using Legacy. Double-check your firmware settings to see if there’s an option for booting in Legacy only or UEFI only; you want it set to Legacy if Windows is installed that way. Also, ensure your drive is using MBR for a Legacy setup! Good luck!

Thanks for the response! I didn't notice two entries in the USB boot menu, but that might be the issue. Is the only option to restart from the installer USB? I’d like to check if there’s an EFI partition first to see what's causing the issue. Any common pitfalls I should be aware of if I decide to reinstall?
