Hey everyone! I'm diving into building my first PC and trying to navigate through the current hardware options. My budget is around $2500, and I want a solid setup for gaming as well as conducting homelabs focused on networking and cybersecurity. So far, I've picked out a Ryzen 9 9950X for the CPU because of its performance and a Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB for the GPU, as I've heard Sapphire is a great brand. I've based the rest of my components on compatibility and reviews from PC Part Picker. I'd love any thoughts on my choices or suggestions for better, cost-effective options without compromising on performance or power consumption!

I would recommend considering a current-gen GPU instead of the RX 7800 XT, like the 9700 XT, which is a better option for the price. The 7800 XT isn't the strongest performer, especially for raytracing. It's good to hear you're focusing on both gaming and homelabs! Make sure your setup meets your specific needs for those tasks. If you're primarily gaming, the GPU should be high on your priority list.
You've got a solid base, but I think you'll want to rethink your usage. Since you're coming from a MacBook and want to run both games and VMs, I'd suggest prioritizing your build for gaming but also keep in mind how you'll manage your virtualization. Maybe get a dedicated box for your homelabs? This could ease some performance strain on your gaming setup. Have you considered Windows 11 for your OS?
Yeah, I was thinking of going with Windows 11! I might have to rethink how I set things up for VM's. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the suggestion! I really appreciate it. I’ll look into the 9700 XT!
