Hey everyone! My grandma's almost two hours away, and I want to help her set up her new Netgear router, including changing the password and other settings. Is there a way I can access the router's webpage remotely without being close to it? What specific information would I need from her to make this happen?

If she has internet access and her PC set up, you could have her use TeamViewer or similar software to let you remotely access her computer. That way, you can log into the router through her system.
You can set up a VPN on a Raspberry Pi or use Netgear Insight to access it remotely once it's configured correctly.
If it's the ISP’s main router, you can use her public IP to log in and configure settings. She can find her public IP through sites like whatsmyip. Just make sure she doesn’t share it online!
Connecting via the Netgear app might be an option if you can get her to set that up. But the initial setup usually has to be done through her network.
Most routers can only be accessed locally. However, if her router supports remote access, that could work too. Just avoid giving access to the web UI for security reasons—it's not safe.

Just remember, if she's not tech-savvy, guide her through the steps over the phone!
