I'm looking to install Zorin OS alongside Windows 11 on my laptop, which only has one SSD. I followed my friend's advice to boot from a USB stick, but now I can't access any of the files stored on my SSD. I'm worried about potentially losing my files during this process. Is there a way to access my files without having to install Zorin on the SSD?

You can totally dual boot with one SSD! Just remember that while Windows usually doesn’t ‘brick’ your Linux things, it might overwrite the boot loader during updates. To set it up, open Windows Partition Manager and shrink your biggest partition to make space for Zorin. The Zorin installer will handle the rest without ruining your setup if you’re careful not to overwrite anything.
When you boot from a USB stick, keep in mind it has some limitations regarding file access. Your SSD may be blocked due to settings like BitLocker or Fast Startup. Try disabling those options first. As for dual booting on a single SSD, it actually works fine as long as there’s enough space for both OSs. Just ensure those settings are turned off for a smoother experience.
First thing's first—back up your important files just in case. After that, check your file manager in Zorin; it should allow you to view your Windows disk. I use Zorin myself and have no trouble accessing my NTFS external drive, so you should be able to see your SSD files as well.
