I'm using an iPhone 14 on iOS 18.5 and I've run into a snag with iCloud. My free 5 GB storage is filled up because I have two existing backups (one for my phone and one for my iPad) and a bunch of messages. I can't make a new backup right now, and I'm hesitant to delete my current backup because I'm worried about losing it. I'd prefer not to lose my messages either. Is there any way around this? Can I save my messages elsewhere and make more space for a new backup?

One option is to just pay for extra iCloud storage, which is super cheap at about 99 cents a month. But if you want to avoid that, you could back up your iPhone to your computer instead. Just connect your phone, open iTunes or Finder, and look for the backup option. That way, you won't have to deal with iCloud limits. Just make sure you do it regularly so your backups are up to date!
Another way to go is by trying a third-party app to back up your data. Some of them can save your messages and other files without using up your iCloud storage. Just ensure to pick a reputable app to keep your data safe!
How do I actually back up to my computer?
