I'm looking to create a lyrics website that isn't just about plugging lyrics into WordPress. My goal is to focus exclusively on English songs released from the year 2000 onward. I'm wondering about the best approach to obtain these lyrics—should I consider reverse-engineering existing websites, or is there a more effective way? It feels like I'm just trying random ideas here, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Common methods involve data scraping and user submissions. But honestly, with AI becoming more prevalent, using AI voice recognition to transcribe lyrics could be a game changer.

I'm dealing with around 10,000 songs, so I can't afford running them through AI. I prefer the traditional methods; I wonder how they did it back in the day—maybe they had some audio OCR tools?

One thing you definitely need to keep in mind is the licenses for the lyrics. Getting those rights can be one of the biggest hurdles you'll face when building your site.

I didn't realize that! But if I manage to set aside time to apply for licenses, wouldn't I need a working prototype first? How would I even start on that?

Honestly, it might be tough to find someone willing to give you those licenses. Just a heads up!

Got it! I’ll keep that in mind as I figure things out.
