How Can I Connect 3.5mm Speakers to My DVD Player?

I'm trying to use my Sony DVD player, model BDP-S480, as a CD player for music, but I only have 3.5mm speakers. I know the player has HDMI and USB ports as well, but I want to connect my speakers directly. I tried using the USB cable from the speakers to the player, but that didn't work since it's likely just for lighting. Is there a way to connect my speakers to the DVD player?

If your speakers are amplified, you can connect them using a 3.5mm to RCA adapter. Just plug that into the red and white audio ports on the DVD player. If they aren't amplified, then unfortunately, you won’t be able to connect them directly. The USB might just be for powering the lights on the speakers, not for audio.

I don’t know much about the speakers either since they were a gift, but it seems like the USB is only for the lights.
