How Can I Fit My RTX 3080 with the Case Panel On?

I'm upgrading my son's computer with my old RTX 3080, but it's so large that I can't put the glass side panel on without forcing it, which puts pressure on the 8-pin side connectors. The cables stick out about 1/2 inch, and for now, I'm running it without the side panel. I've been looking at various cables and connectors compatible with my Corsair RM850x PSU, but there are so many choices! I'm wondering if buying this angled connector would be a simple, safe, and inexpensive fix. I'm also open to other suggestions that could help. Thanks in advance for your advice!

From what I've seen, those angled connectors often still stick out quite a bit. Have you thought about using a vertical GPU mount? It might help with the space issue.

I haven't explored that option yet. Would I need a case or motherboard that supports vertical mounting for it to work? My case is quite old, and I’m using an AM4 motherboard.
