Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my downloads on Steam. Whenever I try to download a game, it starts installing at the same time, which causes the download speed to fluctuate a lot. This dual process really slows down the download speed, making it worse than it should be. I noticed that when I pre-loaded a game that isn't released yet, the speeds were significantly better since there was no installation happening at the same time. All my other game launchers are working perfectly, so the issue seems to be specific to Steam. I've already tried various network solutions and even reinstalled the launcher, but nothing seems to help. I'm using an ethernet connection, so my internet should be good. I just want to find a way to resolve this issue and get my download speeds back up to normal. By the way, my PC specs are great, so I don't think it's a hardware issue, and I've checked Task Manager too. Thanks for your help!

Just because other launchers work fine doesn’t mean it’s not a Steam issue. They handle downloads differently. Check all your resources during the download—like, is your RAM maxing out or your CPU? If everything seems okay there, try running Steam on a different system with the same Ethernet connection. If issues persist, you might need to deep clean your Steam files (just back them up first!). Oh, and resetting your router can sometimes do wonders. Good luck!
It sounds like there's no specific setting to fix this. What CPU do you have? It might be maxing out a resource.
I've got a 13th gen i7-13620H.

I've optimized my settings for performance: CPU at around 25%, Memory at 50%, and Disk at 3%, with spikes at 20%. I don’t have another PC with an Ethernet port to try.
