How Can I Improve Internet Speeds in a Large House with Multiple Users?

I'm really struggling with my internet connection at home. I use a PS5 and a desktop, but I live with several roommates, and all of us are online at the same time. It really slows everything down! We have a pretty big house, so we've got wifi extenders to help, but we're just using a basic Verizon modem and router, which isn't cutting it. Unfortunately, fiber isn't an option for us, so we're stuck with the standard plan. My connection is terrible—games lag and voice calls are almost impossible. I can't move my setup, but I'm open to buying better equipment for my room or suggesting upgrades for the whole house. Any tips to help me out?

Rather than relying on the ISP's default router, I turned off its wifi and got a better router to connect to it. The standard ISP routers can’t handle multiple devices well. You might want to look into getting a higher spec router for better performance. It's a game changer!

How do I find a good router? Any recommendations on specific models?

You might want to check out the Eero Max7; it’s a three-pack system. It can really enhance your wifi throughout the house! Worth looking into if you want better coverage without running cables everywhere.

Have you considered using an Ethernet connection? It's definitely the way to go if you can manage it. Just try a short Ethernet cable to test your speeds before committing to a longer one. It could really help stabilize your connection!

Running an Ethernet cable would be ideal, but if that’s not possible, you could set up a wireless bridge using an old router. I got mine from a thrift store and it works wonders for extending my wifi signal!
