How can I improve our website design without hiring a developer?

Hey everyone,

I'm working at a small insurance startup, and we're currently trying to put together a blog series for our website. The issue is that my boss doesn't want to invest in hiring a developer, preferring to rely on AI tools for the design work. Unfortunately, what we've been able to create with these AI tools isn't up to par.

As the one handling this task, it's quite frustrating because I believe we can achieve a much better design if given the right tools. While my boss seems satisfied with the AI-generated options, I'm feeling constrained since I have to rely on an AI to shape what I envision instead of doing it myself.

To give you a bit of background, I have experience in graphic design, especially with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, but I lack any coding skills. Our website is on an outdated version of WordPress, managed by a third-party company, which makes switching systems off the table. For the blog, we have the ability to insert HTML code, but the resulting editor feels quite antiquated and offers limited customization options.

What I'm looking for are solutions that allow me to:

* Maintain control over the graphic elements,
* Require little to no coding knowledge,
* Enable me to copy and paste pure HTML into a terminal for implementation.

Thanks for reading, and any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you considered using Figma? It’s a design tool that lets you utilize your graphic design skills effectively. You can create designs, export them for development, and then just copy/paste the code into your WordPress site. It's pretty accessible for someone without coding experience.

If you need a quick fix, you could try using free Bootstrap5 templates. They’re pretty user-friendly and can give your blog a nice look without needing heavy coding skills. Just check out their site for some templates you can customize and integrate easily.

It really sounds like your boss is missing the bigger picture here. Trying to DIY your way through design with AI tools is like expecting your office intern to fix the company truck instead of hiring a mechanic who's trained for the job. You might want to sit down with your boss and explain that hiring a developer could save you both time and headaches in the long run.
