How Can I Keep My GPU from Overheating?

I bought my first PC back in February and had it built using custom components. I ordered an Nvidia RTX 4070, but I received a 5070 instead. Initially, everything worked fine with my Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 ARGB cooler. However, I've started facing an issue where the GPU shuts off when it gets too hot, which seems to be a safety feature. This mostly happens when I'm gaming; some games like Endless Space 2 run fine, but others cause shutdowns within minutes or hours. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to effectively cool my GPU or if it's possible to install additional cooling components? I do keep the vents clean regularly and the airflow seems decent in my setup.

Typically, thermal shutdown should occur at 99°C, and if your fans are operational, that shouldn't be happening. From what you've described, it sounds more like a power issue rather than a thermal one unless you're consistently hitting those high temps. I recommend monitoring your GPU temperatures closely to confirm.

It sounds like your GPU shouldn't completely shut off because it should thermal throttle instead. Make sure to check your power supply wattage; it might not be sufficient for the 5070 compared to the 4070. The 5070 needs about 50W more power, which could be tripping some overcurrent protection in your PSU.
