How can I keep my new smart oven secure if I don’t want to use its smart features?

I just got a smart oven and I'm really concerned about security. I actually want to avoid using the smart features altogether, so I'm wondering what's the best way to set it up. Should I simply not connect it to my home network, or do I need to adjust some settings to make sure it's secure? My idea was to hook it up to my backup phone's personal hotspot and change the default password. Is that a good approach, or should I take further steps like finding and unplugging the WiFi module?

Yeah, just don’t connect it. That’s the simplest way to keep it secure without any hassle. You don’t need to unplug anything; just leave it offline!

The most secure route is to not connect your oven to any network at all. If you don’t plan on using the smart features, just skip the setup completely. That way, you avoid any potential security risks related to connecting it.

Seriously though, what’s the worst that could happen? I mean, are hackers really gonna aim for my roast potatoes?

Honestly, the risk is mostly about whether someone can access your network; you wouldn’t want that! I wouldn’t want a Trojan horse making its way in and messing with my precious doge coins!

Exactly! You can just avoid connecting it to your network. If you’re worried about other devices, think about using your router's guest network which can isolate IoT devices from your main network. Just make sure to set it to 'isolated' to protect your other devices.
