I recently dealt with a situation where someone used my image to dig up personal information about me online, including pictures. Now, they're trying to blackmail me by reaching out to people close to me. What steps can I take to make sure my face and personal details aren't easily found in these databases anymore?

The best way to protect yourself is to stop sharing your photos online. Any public images can lead someone to find your personal information again, and even if you take legal action against the database provider, it won’t eliminate all traces of your photos online.

Consider putting your social media accounts on private or even deleting them. Go through your pictures and run a reverse image search to see what’s out there. If you find anything, contact those sites to request removal. And definitely block any blackmailers—don’t engage with them.

Once your photos are online, there's really no way to completely erase them unless you never put them there to begin with. Just keep your online presence minimal going forward to avoid these types of situations.

It sounds a bit like this person is trying to scare you. You should think about what they really want—if it’s just to intimidate you over social media, how much power do they actually have? If there’s nothing incriminating out there, they might not have anything to leverage against you.
